About the role
We're looking for a hands‐on, reliable Technical Assistant to support field noise monitoring and basic data processing. You'll work independently on site and upload results to our team—great real‐world experience for someone studying engineering, science or related disciplines or looking to get into environmental assessment
Key duties
- Attend sites to deploy and collect noise monitors (daytime and occasional after‐hours).
- Attended noise measurements as required.
- Data handling: download, check, and upload datasets and site notes.
- (Optional growth) Learn calculations, 3D acoustical modelling, and technical report writing with mentoring.
What we're looking for
- Technical aptitude and problem‐solving skills; comfortable with laptops, spreadsheets, and file management.
- Transparent written and verbal communication; fluent in English; professional presentation.
- Driver's licence, reliable transport, and willingness to travel across the Illawarra (plus occasional South Coast/Southern Highlands).
- Organised and dependable, able to work safely and follow procedures.
- Physically able to carry/handle equipment (~5-10 kg).
- Located in or around the Illawarra region of NSW
Nice to have (not essential)
- Experience with environmental monitoring, GIS, CAD.
- Interest in environmental acoustics, building/industrial acoustics or occupational acoustics, health and safety.
