About the role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Ecologist to join our friendly and dynamic Ecology team to be based out of any of our three offices.
Your key focus will be to assist the ecological team in problem-solving and devising solutions to complex ecological issues, preparing proposals, reviewing reports, and conducting field investigations across various terrestrial ecosystems. You will contribute to high-level reporting, provide ecological advice, and support the identification of environmental constraints and opportunities across ecological and multi-disciplinary projects.
This position also involves mentoring of junior members of the team and leading inter-disciplinary project teams. Excellent communication skills will be essential to develop contacts and networks to assist in marketing and developing new business too.

Essential skills and experience:
* Undergraduate Bachelor of Science/ Environmental Science/ Applied Science/ Natural Resource Management or equivalent in related discipline, with high levels of academic achievement.
* Maintain a current Class C Driver's License and ability to drive manual vehicles.
* Minimum of eight to ten plus years of professional experience in ecological or environmental consulting, including demonstrated capability in leading and managing complex projects. Experience in local or state government preparing or assessing similar duties will also be considered.
* Proven ability to write clear and concise technical reports (e.g., BARs, BSSARs, BDARs, REFs, EISs, SISs, VMPs, offset strategies, species-specific management plans, weed management plans, nest box management plans). Advanced ability to produce high quality reports and review reports prepared by others, ensuring scientific accuracy and clarity.
* Extensive experience in delivering all aspects and scales of ecological field surveys and statutory assessments, including knowledge of techniques, government standards/ policies, and a proven track record of successful project delivery.
* Extensive experience and knowledge in interpreting and applying environmental legislation (NSW and Commonwealth).
* Ability to collect and review field data using ArcGIS apps (FieldMaps, Survey123, Quick Capture, etc.).
* Expertise in flora and fauna identification, vegetation mapping, plant community types, and complex ecological assessments.
* A demonstrated high level of self-motivation, initiative, contribution to team leadership, and the ability to manage complex tasks and projects independently.
* Preferred to have accreditation as an assessor under the NSW Biodiversity Accredited Assessor System, with broad experience applying the Biodiversity Assessment Method.
* Thorough understanding of WH&S requirements and obligations.
Additional desirable experience:
* High level experience in threatened species management from preparing large scale management strategies to devising and implementing monitoring plans.
* Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field.
* Membership of a relevant and accredited professional association.
* 4WD experience or training.
