We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Legal Assistant. This diverse role provides support to a team of legal professionals and would suit a candidate who is proactive, has the ability to juggle multiple tasks and is interested in joining the professional services environment. Our preference is for a full time candidate, though we are open to applicants who can commit to at least four days per week.
The key responsibilities of a Legal Assistant include:
* General administration including word processing, document creation, filing and maintaining our document management system as well as organising couriers.
* Matter related processing including opening and closing matters, preparing conflict checks, client billing, data and system searches, creating engagement letters, trust statements and document lodgement.
* Practice support including diary management, practice administration and scheduling appointments.
* Client services including answering client phone calls, managing events, assisting with client portals, reporting and new client onboarding.
We are committed to providing ongoing training and support for our legal assistants, both at a team and firm level. We are looking for someone who is able to transition well when faced with change, is energetic, eager to learn and is committed to delivering quality work and service to our lawyers and clients.
The successful candidate will have:
* Excellent time management and organisational skills.
* Demonstrated ability to be proactive, have good level of initiative and a strong work ethic
* Ability to prioritise work in a busy practice and meet deadlines.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-motivated with a high attention to detail.
* Professional client and customer service skills and experience.
* Good computer literacy with Microsoft Office skills and experience in learning new systems.
* Previous experience working in a legal or professional office environment would be advantageous.
* Students currently studying towards a legal qualification are encouraged to apply
