As we continue to grow, we're seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to take full responsibility for financial operations and contribute to the broader commercial strategy of the business.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this standalone role is responsible for overseeing all financial functions including reporting, payroll, compliance, budgeting, and system administration. You'll work closely with both internal stakeholders and external advisors, leveraging MYOB Acumatica to ensure accurate, timely, and actionable financial information.
This role offers true ownership of the finance function with the opportunity to drive system improvements and support business growth through insightful reporting and strategic input. Key duties include:
* Prepare and manage monthly financial reports including profit & loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
* Manage one direct report responsible for bookkeeping & AR/AP
* Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations and credit control
* Administer payroll, superannuation, and employee entitlement compliance
* Ensure full compliance with ATO obligations including BAS, PAYG, FBT, and income tax
* Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in alignment with business goals
* Conduct cost analysis across projects, product lines, and business units to support margin improvement
* Manage inventory valuations, asset registers, and depreciation schedules
* Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, and financial institutions to meet reporting and audit requirements
* Administer and optimise the MYOB Acumatica ERP system for accounting, payroll, inventory, and reporting functions
* Drive improvements to internal financial controls and accounting processes
* Provide timely financial insights to support business planning and executive decision-making
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (CA/CPA qualified)
* Minimum 5 years (or more) of full-function accounting experience, preferably within a commercial, manufacturing, or industrial environment
* Strong knowledge of MYOB Acumatica or similar ERP systems (desirable but not essential)
* Demonstrated ability to manage external audits and ensure full compliance with regulatory standards (desirable but not essential)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
* Proven ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, multi-functional role
* Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
