About the role
The Maintenance Engineer role at Clarence Valley Council is a permanent position within the Works and Civil Directorate, based in South Grafton. The position is responsible for directing operational staff to ensure efficient delivery of road maintenance works and services in line with Council Strategic Asset Management Delivery Plan.
It involves overseeing major and minor construction and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental practices. The role requires strong teamwork, high independence, and the ability to supervise staff while liaising with internal teams, the public, external contractors and government agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic planning and programming of maintenance works
- Financial management of maintenance budgets
- Contract administration and risk mitigation
- Providing technical advice, preparing reports for Council
- Supporting works crews in undertaking maintenance operation works
This position is located at Council's Rushforth Road Works Depot, but may change should business needs identify other work locations.
A probation period applies to this position.
