* Lead a team delivering a high‑quality Cabinet system that supports the Premier, the Secretary, and the Chairs of Cabinet Committees and Subcommittees.

* Temporary Band 1 Senior Executive role based in Martin Place, Sydney, through to end of May 2026, with potential for future temporary or ongoing opportunities with The Cabinet Office.
About the Role
The Director, Cabinet plays a central role in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of the Cabinet system. You will lead the Cabinet team, manage the delivery of Cabinet business, and uphold the standards of confidentiality, accountability and coordination.
You will provide strategic, evidence‑based advice and well researched policy propositions and outcomes on complex and sensitive matters. The role supports high‑level Cabinet and committee meetings and requires leadership that can rapidly adjust operations to respond to emerging Government objectives and changes in policy agendas. Working closely with Ministers and agencies, you will drive collaboration and progress whole of government priorities. As part of the senior leadership team, you will also contribute to strategic planning, manage allocated budgets, business planning and continuous improvement across the Office of General Counsel.

* Senior Stakeholder Influence: Capability to advise, negotiate and build trust with senior executives, Ministers and agency leaders.
* System Improvement Mindset: Aptitude to drive new systems and frameworks to improve government effectiveness.
* Government Expertise: Sound knowledge of NSW Government administration, including Cabinet, parliamentary and legislative processes.
* Analytical Excellence: Skilled in analysing complex issues, synthesising evidence and providing clear advice.
* Team and Culture Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage resources, set performance expectations, and foster a collaborative, innovative and high‑performing culture.

TCO consists of four groups: the Office of General Counsel (OGC), Social Policy and Intergovernmental Relations (SPIR), Energy, Environment and Evidence (EEE) and Economic, Housing and Infrastructure Policy (EHIP).
