Valrose is partnering with a Perth-based organisation running mission-critical digital platforms. They're looking for a Senior Drupal Developer who enjoys the deep work: clean PHP, well-structured Drupal builds, thoughtful integrations, and the kind of engineering discipline that keeps a platform secure and fast.
This is a role for someone who likes being the "go-to" Drupal specialist — not stuck in endless BAU, but trusted to solve complex problems, lift standards, and help other developers get better.
What you'll be responsible for...
* Building and enhancing modern Drupal (9/10+) solutions — including custom module development, configuration, and site building
* Developing PHP code that's readable, reusable, and maintainable (with sensible documentation)
* Working across theming and frontend integration (Twig, HTML/CSS/JS) to deliver a great user experience
* Integrating Drupal with external systems via APIs and authentication patterns (REST/OAuth/SAML exposure valued)
* Improving reliability through debugging, performance optimisation, security hygiene, and proactive maintenance
* Uplifting engineering practice: code reviews, standards, Git workflows, and pragmatic testing
* Collaborating with architects, QA, product/content/design stakeholders in an agile delivery rhythm
* Mentoring and supporting other developers — raising capability across the team
What you'll bring to the role...
* Strong commercial experience designing and developing Drupal applications (Drupal 9/10+)
* Solid PHP fundamentals and confidence with Drupal theming/tools (Twig, configuration management, contributed modules)
* Working knowledge of MySQL (or similar) and the performance mindset to diagnose bottlenecks
* Comfort with Git, peer review, and team-based delivery practices
* A calm, senior approach to problem-solving — you communicate clearly and can guide decisions
* Openness to modern engineering aids (including AI-assisted tooling) with good judgement around quality
Nice-to-haves (useful, not mandatory): CI/CD exposure, automated testing tools for PHP/JS, Jira/Confluence, security best practices, open-source/Drupal community contributions.
