Bridges Health & Community Care Ltd is proud to deliver the new Regional Reset program, part of the Queensland Government's Making Queensland Safe plan funded by the Qld Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support. BHCC's Regional Reset catchment area includes the Wide Bay region (Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg with outreach to the North Burnett).
Regional Reset supports young people aged 8–17 who are at risk of entering the justice system due to anti‑social behavior, disengagement from school and/or adverse life circumstances, such as poverty or family dysfunction which puts them at risk of misadventure or crime.
The program will offer intensive support for the young person and their family, and if required a short stay/live‑in component to enhance skills in making good choices and identifying positive support networks and resources in their local community.
Bridges is seeking to employ experienced family practitioners to assist in the delivery of the Regional Reset program for youth aged 8–17 funded by the Queensland Youth Justice & Victims Support. These positions are available for commencement in December 2025/January 2026.
Background and Staffing
Bridges Health & Community Care Ltd (Bridges) Regional Reset (RR) service model is grounded in strong local partnerships, cultural leadership, and decades of experience supporting young people within regional Queensland. We respond to intersecting challenges—such as trauma, disrupted education, co‑occurring mental health and substance use, and early justice involvement—through sustained, tailored wraparound support. All team members receive trauma‑informed training, cultural and general supervision, and reflective practice to ensure safe, strengths‑based support for high‑risk young people.
Service delivery is coordinated by a multi‑disciplinary team that includes Team Leaders, cultural advisors, youth mentors, social workers/family practitioners and operational support staff. This team is responsible for referral management, mentoring supervision, reporting, stakeholder engagement and quality assurance.
Team Leaders ensure quality, risk and compliance in all areas, program fidelity, communication, stakeholder engagement and partnerships, and oversee data and reporting. Cultural advisors guide the culturally safe delivery.
Operational support staff provide administrative support to the RR staff, including processing referrals, capturing data, sourcing supplies and services, and ensuring staff have the resources necessary to fulfil their roles, e.g. access to vehicles, IT etc.
Mentors are the primary point of contact for young people, but their work is embedded within a team structure that ensures continuity, safety and accountability. Mentors receive regular supervision, participate in reflective practice, and are supported by staff in managing risk and delivering services aligned with the individual's support plan.
Family Practitioners will provide evidence‑based interventions and intensive support for the family of the youth client referred to the RR program for assistance.
Regional Reset Program – Bundaberg and Fraser Coast, QLD
The Regional Reset Program is a trauma‑informed, culturally grounded initiative funded by the Qld Department of Youth Justice and Victim Support under the Making Qld Safer Plan. The program is designed to stabilise young people, reconnect them with family and culture, and support positive pathways back into the community.
This place‑based, holistic model offers flexible, culturally safe reset pathways, namely short‑term intensive live‑in support and creative and structured group programmes to meet diverse needs and readiness levels of young people aged 8–17 years.
Regional Reset will divert young people from their high‑risk environments and provide an opportunity for respite and to reset relationships, behaviours and attitudes.
The Program is intended to help young people demonstrating high‑risk behaviour (such as substance abuse, aggression or truancy) and their family by providing a short stay of one to three weeks, as well as mentoring and therapeutic supports for a period pre and post stay.
The program will focus on education, self‑control, counselling, training and employment skills that include community volunteering, cultural activities, skills, adventure and sport.
The Program will provide culturally responsive engagement with young people and their family or guardian/carer where appropriate. Services will provide short‑term aftercare to embed learnings for both the young person and family, as well as support warm referrals to community‑based supports to address ongoing needs.
Key Requirements of the Program
* Targeting young people who require a higher level of care than community‑based programmes can provide, who are moving quickly toward a life of crime.
* Providing young people with the life skills, structure, and self‑control they need to get back on track before they become repeat offenders.
* The "Reset", a short stay live‑in intensive intervention usually in group settings.
