Salary $95,777 to $102,659 plus Superannuation and Leave Loading.
The Opportunity
As Senior Technical Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting research projects that utilise experimental climate change facilities at Western Sydney University's Hawkesbury campus. These facilities enable scientists to manipulate rainfall timing and magnitude to test projected future climate conditions on plants and soils.
You will oversee the daily operation, installation, calibration, and maintenance of environmental sensor systems and associated data collection infrastructure at flux towers and climate experiment sites. Your work will ensure continuous measurement of carbon and water exchange in native and managed ecosystems, contributing to impactful ecological research.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors in nature, is comfortable with heights and enjoys working independently.
Role Responsibilities:
Preparing practical teaching spaces including materials and equipment for undergraduate practicals
Maintain compliance for regulated facilities.
Assist researchers and HDR students particularly in non-teaching periods.
Maintaining, operating and calibrating complex equipment.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures for relevant equipment and processes - ensuring that they are up to date and the standard maintained.
Actively contribute to identifying and recommending areas of improvement through Continuous Improvement or Kaizen programs

About You
Tertiary qualifications in Horticulture or Environmental Science
Familiarity with technical support for Experimental Climate systems and rainfall manipulation facilities.
Ability to analyse environmental data using R and/or Python.
Current or willingness to obtain Working at Heights certification.
Strong problem-solving, planning, and communication skills.
