Excellent 6 Figure Package South-West Based Role Family Owned Business Our client is the world leader in the manufacture, engineering, maintenance, and servicing of Cable Belt conveyor systems. The manufacturing facility / office is conveniently located within driving distance of both Mandurah and Bunbury. They are now looking to hire an experienced Engineering Manager that will directly report into the General Manager of the company. Position Purpose: To build and sustain the company's engineering capability by leading a small, high-performing team across product development, maintenance engineering and project delivery. Transition the engineering function from a technically-focused individual contributor model to a leadership-led capability that develops people, manages resources effectively and drives technical standards across the business. Whilst this role is primarily one of leadership, there will be a fair amount of 'hands-on' required in a smaller resourced organisation. Key Accountabilities: Engineering Leadership & Capability Lead, coach and develop the engineering team - Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Fitter and Apprentice - building technical depth and professional capability Manage engineering resource allocation across competing priorities: maintenance, project work and product development Establish engineering standards, documentation practices and knowledge management systems Mentor the Apprentice through their trade qualification with structured on-the-job learning Maintenance & Reliability Oversee the planned maintenance program, ensuring equipment reliability and minimising unplanned downtime Drive root cause analysis on recurring failures and implement reliability improvement initiatives Manage the maintenance budget and ensure maintenance activities are scheduled without disrupting production Project & Product Development Manage the engineering project portfolio, setting clear scope, timeline and quality expectations Drive technical innovation and product improvement consistent with the company's niche market strengths Interface with customers on technical requirements and provide engineering solutions to commercial opportunities Contracted Resources Manage the engagement of contracted Robotics Engineer for consolidated project work, ensuring clear scope, deliverables and value for money Maintain continuity of robotics-related knowledge within the permanent team Safety & Standards Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, WHS legislation and company safety requirements Review engineering designs and modifications for safety risk prior to implementation Success Metrics Equipment uptime and reduction in unplanned downtime Maintenance schedule compliance Engineering project delivery - on time and within scope Apprentice progression milestones achieved Engineering team capability - competency assessments and development plan completion Customer satisfaction with technical solutions Qualifications & Experience Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (essential) 5 years post-graduate engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment Demonstrated experience leading and developing an engineering team Experience with maintenance engineering, reliability improvement and planned maintenance systems Exposure to conveyor systems, materials handling or polyurethane manufacturing is advantageous Registered or eligible for registration with Engineers Australia (desirable) Key Competencies & Behaviours Genuine people leader - invests in team development Strong engineering judgement with practical, hands-on problem-solving ability Organised and systematic - manages competing priorities without dropping detail Communicates technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders Customer-facing confidence in technical discussions Committed to safety as a non-negotiable engineering standard My client is a long term, family owned business that values their tight knit team of dedicated employees.
