Principal Generative Geoscientist – Porphyry Copper | Perth
We are hiring a senior geoscientist to lead the exploration of new porphyry copper concepts. This globally oriented, technically demanding role reports directly to the Manager Generative Porphyry Copper Global and can be based in Perth, Chile or North America.
About the Role
The Principal Generative Geoscientist will identify and advance new exploration concepts for porphyry copper, reduce the search space, deliver high‑quality exploration options, and support project evaluation.
Main Responsibilities
* Act as a core member of a highly specialized team of experts responsible for identifying, assessing, and recommending new exploration opportunities for porphyry copper deposits globally.
* Deliver on the long‑term Exploration Strategy (2‑5 years) and contribute to building and maintaining a high‑quality and healthy portfolio of porphyry projects for the global exploration pipeline.
* Recommend, generate and progress new exploration concepts from large‑scale reconnaissance to high‑quality porphyry prospects within a 1‑2 year time frame, leveraging deep knowledge of key geological terranes for porphyry mineral systems.
* Apply Mineral Systems thinking to design critical work programmes for prospectivity assessment, area reduction and prediction of favourable areas for large‑scale, high‑quality porphyry systems.
* Carry out high‑quality data capture, analysis and interpretation leading to ground capture and continual replenishment of the global project pipeline.
* Promote a professional, vigorous, and safe working environment and ensure adherence to all regulatory and industry‑standard practices.
* Collaborate and work closely with multiple stakeholders and teams across the globe.
* Contribute to the identification, evaluation and capture of opportunities inside approved focus areas.
* Produce working geological models at regional and camp scale for exploration concept and reconnaissance, integrating multiple datasets (geological, geochemical and geophysical) and applying the Mineral System framework.
* Lead and/or participate in global technical reviews based on deep knowledge of porphyry copper systems.
* Provide expert and specialist geological skills, experience and capability to support exploration projects and activities.
* Mentor and develop exploration teams through sharing geological skills, experience and capabilities.
* Provide timely, accurate, comprehensive and credible technical reports and motivation documents for core generative programmes to assist and support high‑quality decision‑making.
About You
* University degree majoring in Geology. Post‑graduate degrees in structural geology, geochemistry or economic geology (master’s or PhD) are highly regarded.
* Extensive professional experience in geosciences (+15 years) and solid understanding of generative workflows applied to porphyry copper exploration with a demonstrable track record of success.
* Field experience and regional geological mapping, combined with the ability to integrate multiple datasets at different scales to build defensible geological models and interpretations.
* Sound understanding and field experience in identifying critical processes necessary to form a porphyry copper mineral system.
* Project evaluation experience is highly regarded.
* Professional working proficiency in English; second‑language skills would be an asset.
* Preference for candidates based in Perth, though we are open to those located in Adelaide.
