Strategic Metallurgy Group is a leading horizontally integrated, innovative metallurgical consulting company serving customers in Australia and across the Globe. We are seeking driven and experienced Senior Metallurgists and Metallurgists to join our Belmont, Western Australia office. In these full-time roles, you will play a crucial part in managing laboratory testwork programs, metallurgical consulting & study work, and short term site assignments for clients in the mining and mineral processing sector.
What you'll be doing
* Conduct metallurgical test work management and analysis programs including mass balances, leach testing, and flotation to identify opportunities for process development and improvements as part of the metallurgical consulting team.
* Participate in developing detailed process design, scoping/PFS/DFS study activities, and drive innovative R&D development projects through to commercialisation.
* Site-based short-term assignments in ore processing/toll-milling management, GIC/metallurgical accounting, process optimisation, brownfield/greenfield expansion & studies.
* Ensure all work is performed in a safe, timely, reproducible, and sustainable manner in accordance with procedures and standards whilst applying your knowledge and experience.
* Act as a primary client liaison, providing technical expertise and recommendations to support decision-making via reports, written and verbal advice for clients.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
What we're looking for
* A degree in Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 2 to 15 years of experience in metallurgy, mineral processing, consulting, laboratory or process engineering role, preferably within the mining industry.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide practical solutions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and clients – a team player.
* Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
* A strong work ethic with the ability to work unsupervised and deliver positive outcomes for the team and client.
* Willingness to undertake short-term site/operations-based work assignments, pre-employment medical and police checks.
