The Opportunity
Working with a multidisciplinary team, the Montessori Lead
is responsible for delivering and leading the provision of care in line with
the Montessori Model of Care. This role supports Southern Cross Care Tasmania's
commitment to providing compassionate, innovative, and person-centred care that
promotes independence, dignity, choice, and a strong sense of purpose for older
people.
We are seeking a full-time Montessori Lead to join
our Yaraandoo Facility, based in Somerset (Burnie).
This pivotal role focuses on promoting the physical,
emotional, cultural, and spiritual wellbeing of residents by partnering closely
with residents, their families, and the wider care team. The Montessori Lead
supports residents across everyday activities including eating and nutrition,
personal hygiene, mobility, household tasks, meaningful roles, and leisure
activities.
Working collaboratively with care workers, nursing staff,
and allied health professionals, the Montessori Lead contributes to positive
resident outcomes and ensures any changes in health or wellbeing are identified
and escalated appropriately.
The successful applicant will also provide operational and
practice leadership to support high-quality care delivery in accordance with
organisational, clinical, and legislative requirements, including:
* Leading,
mentoring, and supporting small to medium care teams
* Role-modelling
the Montessori Model of Care and Southern Cross Care values
* Driving
continuous improvement and best practice in resident-centred care
* Supporting
compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and clinical governance
requirements
* Collaborating
with multidisciplinary health care teams to achieve resident outcomes
* Creating
and maintaining prepared environments that promote independence, choice,
and meaningful engagement
* Supporting
excellence in Montessori-based care, including dementia and memory support
environments
Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated
experience in a leadership or senior care role
* Proven
ability to lead, coach, and mentor diverse team members
* Experience
working within aged care or residential care settings
* Sound
knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards
* Knowledge
and understanding of AN-ACC processes, assessments, and reviews
* Strong
communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
* Commitment
to person-centred, dignity-based care
Additional Requirements:
* Demonstrated
interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively and
compassionately with residents, families, employees, and volunteers;
patience; common sense; and a strong ethos of client service
* Demonstrated
ability to relate and converse with older people, and sensitivity to the
issues related to services for older people
* Demonstrated
commitment to cultural diversity, equal employment opportunity, and

* Demonstrated
awareness of the organisation's vision, mission, and values
* Minimum
of a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care)
Compliance Requirements
Southern Cross Care (Tasmania) Inc. requires the following
compliance checks to be completed prior to appointment:
* Satisfactory
National Police Check (within the last three years)
* Current
Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration with NDIS
endorsement
* Evidence
of working rights in Australia
