The Role
Under teacher direction, EASN would assist in the education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Suitable applicants will ideally be reliable, hardworking and dedicated to all our students' needs and requirements. As EASN, suitable applicants will ideally be able to build relationships quickly and effectively with various stakeholders. Applicants should have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills to work as part of a team to achieve positive outcomes for student learning, and be professional, focused and hardworking. Experience with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, and the ability to support student growth both academically and socially within the classroom, is preferred.
EASN would work under limited supervision and may participate within a team, offering advice and expertise related to their relevant area. Tasks may include providing support and advice to schools and teachers on the management of students at risk under supervision of the Relevant Professional. The Education Assistant may design and implement behaviour management plans in consultation with teachers, parents and Relevant Professionals, and maintain records regarding implementation of such plans to assess alignment with educational outcomes. The Education Assistant would assist with training of students in the acquisition of self-management, such as life-skills.
All education outcomes are determined by the teacher or other professionals, with the employee performing tasks requiring discretion in problem solving, decision making, and selecting methods to achieve outcomes. Some tasks may involve supervision of students in settings outside the classroom without a teacher present.
