Job Title: Horse Trainer
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily care and supervision of horses.
* Assist veterinarians with ultrasound/reproduction examination, including assisting in birthing foals and administering medical treatment to foals.
* Train young stock for sale, including yearlings, and attend sales when required.
* Monitor mare ovulation and pregnancy.
* Assist veterinarians in attending to medical and health needs of horses as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III or equivalent international qualification or have a minimum of three years professional experience educating and training horses. They should also possess a minimum of two years' experience handling and working with thoroughbred horses. Knowledge of horse training and handling methods specific to thoroughbreds is essential, along with proven ability to train and educate young horses.
The successful applicant will require strong communication skills, both oral and written, to provide instruction, information, and advice to others. They should also be familiar with safe operation of equipment and personal protective equipment and demonstrate knowledge of health and safety obligations.
