Records Specialist / Archivist Officer

This is an excellent opportunity to join a reputable government department currently seeking an experienced Records Clerk to join their team in St Leonards where you will work closes with team members, extract reports, update data and transfer records to ensure of recordkeeping and compliance.
In this role you will be managing records, using a Records management systems ( RMS) to handle reports, update data and categorise records, you will need to manage disposal and transfer to ensure proper recordkeeping.
This is a full-time role, working from Monday to Friday, with 8-hour workdays, totalling 40 hours per week. It's a 3-month contract position based in St. Leonards, with a potential for extension.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Review unidentified collections, assign appropriate titles for easier access.
- Identify records for disposal, gain approval, and carry out their destruction or transfer.
- Occasionally, travel to off-site vendor storage to inspect unidentified records.
- Maintain a precise register of offsite record actions, updating metadata for accurate tracking and disposal.
- Seek guidance and confirmation from staff regarding record status.
**Key Challenges**:
- Make decisions about creating, capturing, retaining, or disposing of records in consultation with staff.
- Identify and resolve issues that might obstruct task completion, and improve systems or processes.
- Authenticate and assess records to determine their worth and retention
- Extract necessary reports from the Records Management System to identify records due for disposal, archiving, or transfer.
- Effectively manage workload to meet key responsibilities and keep track of activities.
**Essential Requirements**:
- Strong analytical skills for assessing materials and determining their origin, value, and condition.
- Exceptional communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal staff and the immediate team, conveying information accurately.
- Extensive expertise in records requirements and disposal authorities for managing records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with working with Content Manager.
