About the role
This role contributes to the success of the City by coordinating the Mathers House Dining Program to assist in the provision of positive ageing services and activities for older people at Mathers House and Criterion House.
* Coordinating all day to day kitchen operations
* Rostering and supervising volunteer cooks, kitchen hands and waiting staff
* Developing appropriate menus with volunteer cooks
* Managing stock control and ordering food and consumables
* Overseeing Work Health and Safety and Food Safety requirements for volunteers
* Monitoring kitchen equipment maintenance and replacement needs
* Assisting with food preparation and cooking when required
* Coordinating catering for workshops, special events, activities and programs
* Supporting positive ageing staff and ensuring compliance with facility procedures
* Engaging with older community members to promote inclusive participation
* Supporting community development approaches in collaboration with the Mathers House Coordinator
* Undertaking additional duties that support Positive Ageing Programs as required
About you
You will be a community minded individual with a genuine interest in supporting older people. You will be confident managing a small team of volunteers in a kitchen environment and able to deliver safe, inclusive and positive experiences for community members. You will bring knowledge of kitchen operations, strong communication skills, and the ability to create a respectful and welcoming environment for volunteers and visitors.
You will ideally have experience working in community kitchens or catering for large groups. You will also be comfortable managing menu planning, stock control, compliance responsibilities and the coordination of day-to-day service delivery.
