About the Team
The position is held at UTS: ACRI under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International).
UTS: ACRI is an independent, non-partisan research institute established in 2014 by the University of Technology Sydney. UTS: ACRI is Australia's first and only research institute devoted to studying the relationship between Australia and China.
UTS: ACRI seeks to inform Australia's engagement with China through research, analysis, and dialogue grounded in scholarly rigour.
About the Role
The Events and Communications Officer is integral to the external engagement of the Australia-China Relations Institute at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS: ACRI). This position will provide support to the Director and the Manager, Research Analysis of UTS: ACRI in achieving the objectives of the institute by planning and delivering public and private events as directed, and assisting the external communications of UTS: ACRI, including by providing support with media relations and digital communications. Additional responsibilities include the provision of other administrative support as required.
This position will organise UTS: ACRI public and invitation-only events and ensure the provision of timely and accurate external communications to support the UTS: ACRI Strategic Plan, keep stakeholders abreast of UTS: ACRI initiatives and activities and continue assisting with raising the profile of UTS: ACRI as the nation's leading research institute on Australia-China relations.
This position undertakes a range of projects, both autonomously and in collaboration with the wider UTS: ACRI team and teams elsewhere in the University.
Responsibilities
* Planning and delivering in-person, online, and hybrid events that run smoothly, safely, on time, and within budget.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality event experiences and strong partnerships.
* Creating and managing promotional content, updating the website and social media, and maintaining consistency with UTS branding.
* Tracking and evaluating event outcomes, communication activities, and media coverage, suggesting improvements where needed.
* Providing administrative support, maintaining accurate records and mailing lists, and responding promptly to event and media enquiries.

Base Salary Range
$97,332 - $105,385 pa (HEW 6)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.
