Formerly known as the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children, they now support over 10,000 children and adults across Australia each year through world-class education, allied health, clinical services, and Australia’s largest cochlear implant program. The Impact You Will Have in This Role The Business Partner, People & Culture plays a critical role in empowering leaders, shaping the employee experience, and fostering a positive and high-performing culture. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you will work collaboratively across your portfolio to deliver tailored people solutions, build leadership capability, and drive engagement. You will be both a strategic advisor and a hands-on partner, providing expert guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, talent management, change management, and organisational development initiatives. Your work will be central to ensuring the employee experience reflects NextSense’s values of community, respect, courage, communication, empowerment, and integrity, enabling the organisation to continue lifting the limits of what’s possible. Key Responsibilities Act as a trusted advisor to people leaders, delivering strategic HR support and operational advice across the employee lifecycle. Partner with business units to enhance leadership capability, drive engagement, and align people strategies with organisational goals. Support the design and implementation of initiatives relating to workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, and leadership development. Provide coaching and support on complex employee relations matters, performance management, and change management. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, leveraging collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes. Implement and support HR policies, systems, and best practice people initiatives, ensuring compliance with employment law and organisational frameworks. Champion a proactive, people-first approach to workforce wellbeing, employee engagement, and positive workplace culture. Lead and contribute to key people projects and organisational development initiatives. Maintain accurate records and reporting across HR systems, ensuring strong data integrity and insights-driven people decisions. Skills and Experience Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline with proven experience as an HR Business Partner or similar strategic HR role. Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, industrial instruments, and contemporary HR practices. Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and build the capability of leaders at all levels. Experience managing employee relations issues, including grievance resolution, investigations, and performance management. Expertise in workforce planning, succession planning, and organisational development initiatives. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across diverse teams. Excellent project management, organisational, and time management skills. Highly proactive with a commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice. Strong commitment to the mission and vision of NextSense.
