About the Role
* We are seeking an expert in experimental or theoretical nuclear research to develop and lead a research program in Nuclear Engineering, making significant contributions to educational programs.
The successful candidate will advance nuclear innovation, develop educational offerings, and contribute to positioning UNSW as a leader in nuclear engineering education and research.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver new content integrating key aspects of nuclear engineering into capstone education experiences for small to medium-sized classes of nuclear engineering students.
* Teach and learn design using various pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Implement educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Contribute to curriculum development and improvement.
* Support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds, supporting student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Research with outcomes of high quality and impact, demonstrating a desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and capacity for research leadership.
* Recruit and supervise high-calibre students.
* Collaborate across disciplines, building effective relationships.
* Interact with the profession and industry, attracting funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
Requirements
* A PhD in a related discipline, such as nuclear engineering, thermal hydraulics, reactor physics, nuclear materials, reactor control systems, nuclear chemical processes, or nuclear engineering design, or relevant work experience.
* Breadth of experience and/or proven ability to develop and deliver new content commensurate with integrating key aspects of nuclear engineering.
* Proven commitment to keeping up-to-date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
* Demonstrated success initiating curriculum development and improvement.
* Experience successfully recruiting and supervising high-calibre students.
* Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds, supporting student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Research with outcomes of high quality and impact, demonstrating a desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and capacity for research leadership.
