About the role
The Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation program is a Department of Health funded initiative focusing on enhanced research, education, and leadership capacity for allied health professionals. The program aims to support the development and implementation of allied health specific research, as well as facilitating the growth of research activity and research skills for allied health professionals.
In this second iteration of the program which commenced in March 2022, Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation Leads receive support to develop their leadership capabilities to enable them to be highly effective in their current and future research roles, create better linkages between clinicians, researchers, and academics, and foster the next generation of allied health clinical researchers. The current opportunity has become available for a new part time fellow to step into this role on a part time basis for the second half of the current term, joining an existing fellow in job share arrangement.
The position will have a particular responsibility of supporting and promoting research for health professionals from the Allied Health sciences stream covered by the Health Professional Agreement. Key deliverables include: leadership of at least one research projects resulting in presentations and publications, and supporting research culture and capacity building for allied health staff, with particular emphasis on the sciences stream (primarily encompassing medical imaging professions) covered by the Health Professional Agreement at Eastern Health.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
5. A recognised graduate entry-level qualification in a relevant Allied Health discipline
6. Completed of a research doctorate (PhD) within the last 5 years, or be in the final stages of PhD candidature
7. Current AHPRA registration status (for registered professions) or eligibility for membership of professional association (for self-regulated and non-regulated professions) in one of the following fields: Art therapy, biomedical science, exercise physiology, medical and diagnostic imaging, music therapy, nuclear medicine, occupational therapy, orthoptics, physiotherapy, podiatry, prosthetics and orthotics, radiation therapy, social work, sonography, and speech pathology.
8. Experience in the provision of education and training and displays strong communication skills
9. Skills in scientific writing and is developing a growing record of high-quality research publications in refereed international quality journals
10. Competence in research design and the collection, analysis and management of data
11. Demonstrates a track record of presenting clinical research finding to stakeholders at conferences, forums, workshops or via social media or m-health/telehealth
12. Manages stakeholders through effective negotiation and influence
