Field Service Technician - Weightometer / Conveyor Belt Weighers

Looking for a Career Beyond the Basics? Join Instrowest!

Are you an electrician tired of the same routine — testing motors, checking pull wires, repeating the same tasks swing after swing?

Or maybe you're an electrical TA or mechanical tradesperson who knows you're capable of more and wants a role with real technical depth and progression.

If you're ready to step into a specialist field, with job security, variety, and genuine work-life balance — this could be the move that changes your career.

Instrowest is experiencing strong growth and is expanding our weightometer field service team across WA mine sites.

Why People Make the Move to Instrowest
* FIFO-style site work without being locked into a roster
* Most work scheduled Monday to Friday
* Occasional weekend work, usually aligned with shutdowns
* Variety of short-duration site jobs instead of long stints away from home
* Freedom from OEM-only work — we service all makes and models
* A clear pathway into a niche, in-demand skillset

This role suits people who like site work, but also value control over their time and career.

What's the Role?

As a Weightometer Field Service Technician, you'll become a key part of mining and mineral processing operations by ensuring conveyor weighing systems are running accurately and reliably.

You don't need formal instrumentation experience.
If you understand the basics of how a load cell works, we'll train you properly into the rest.

What You'll Be Doing
1. Calibration & commissioning of belt scales / weightometers
(all makes and models — including Siemens, Ramsey, Tecweigh, CST, Schenk, Webtech)
2. Mechanical inspection, installation, and alignment of weigh areas
3. Testing, fault-finding, and replacement of load cells
4. Supporting and leading weightometer-focused shutdown work
5. Involvement in scoping, sourcing, quoting, and project delivery
6. Working directly with clients to diagnose issues and provide solutions
7. Completing professional service and calibration reports
This is hands-on, thinking work — not repetitive installs.Who This Role Is Ideal For
* Electricians wanting more technical variety and responsibility
* Electrical Trade Assistants ready to step up
* Mechanical tradespeople who enjoy precision and diagnostics
* Existing weightometer technicians wanting to move away from OEM-only roles and into true third-party service
What matters most:
* Strong trade fundamentals
* Mechanical and electrical curiosity
* Pride in accurate, quality work
* Comfort working FIFO / site-based roles
What We're Looking For
* WA Electrical Worker's Licence (restricted minimum)
* C-Class Driver's Licence
* FIFO / DIDO experience (desirable, not essential)
* Perth metro based or willing to relocate
* Ability to pass a medical
Desirable but not essential tickets:
First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, Confined Spaces, EWP, LF, LRWhat We Offer
* Competitive remuneration based on experience
* Company Hilux with fuel card
* iPhone, iPad, laptop, and company credit card
* Generous annual bonuses
* Penalty rates for weekend and public holiday work (when applicable)
* Time-in-lieu flexibility for weekend work
* Ongoing training into a highly specialised field
* Exposure to gold, nickel, lithium, iron ore, and lead operations
* A tight-knit, experienced team with no office or site politics
Why Weightometer Work?

Accurate belt weighing directly affects production and revenue and good technicians are rare.

Once you learn it properly, you carry a respected, transferable skillset that's in demand across sites, commodities, and operators.
