**Position Description**

The primary purpose of this position is to work collaboratively with internal customers and external towing service providers to safely operate and move vehicles within the Wacol manufacturing facilities such as Tow vehicle, Volvo, and Mack Trucks.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Carry out pre-operational checks on the tow vehicle
- The pre-operational checks for the tow vehicle are carried out in accordance with the Yard permit procedures.
- All faults and defects identified during checks are repaired or reported in accordance with workplace procedures.
- Checks are made to ensure that the vehicle or load being towed or carried is secured as per tow vehicle operational practice and regulatory requirements.
2. Drive a tow vehicle carrying or towing a vehicle or other load
- Accurately manoeuvre vehicles in accordance with the established towing practice for the vehicle being towed or the load being carried
- Drive along appropriate site routes in accordance with the Volvo Traffic Management Plan.
- Ensure signs or indicators are fixed to the vehicle if required
- Follow appropriate procedures in the event of a driving emergency, considering the vehicle being towed.
- Follow JSP 42 Driving Vehicles, JSP 19 Movement of Vehicles and JSP 08 Loading and Unloading Inoperable Vehicles.
3. Operate ancillary equipment on the tow vehicle
- Carry out a visual check the internal and external condition of the ancillary equipment on the tow vehicle in accordance with workplace procedures
- Report towing equipment e.g. lug, towing bar damage, defect or failure to the Rectification Team Leader and tag out affected equipment.
- Operate towing equipment in accordance with the Volvo Towing licence procedures.
- Check that attachment points used in the towing operation and the weight of the vehicle being towed or load being carried to ensure that they are consistent with established towing practice, and the permissible safe working loads for the tow vehicle and its associated towing equipment.
- Complete documentation
- Record tow vehicle operations and related maintenance of the tow vehicle and ancillary equipment in accordance with workplace procedures
- Complete all documentation and official record requirements related to towing operations in accordance with company procedure

**Licences & Experience**
- MR Licences (essential)
- Volvo Towing Licence (essential)
- Volvo Yard Licence (essential)

- Minimum two (2) years driving and manoeuvring heavy vehicles
**Knowledge**:
- Tow vehicle controls, instruments and indicators and their use
- Tow vehicle handling procedures both with and without a tow or load
- Driving hazards and related defensive driving techniques
- Workplace driving and operational instructions
- Procedures to be followed in the event of an emergency when operating a tow vehicle including the use of portable fire extinguishers
- Interpret the status of truck towing parameters using the AS400 system.
**Skills**:
- Ability to manoeuvre and reverse Volvo and Mack trucks into tight parking spaces with a maximum of 500mm space between vehicles.
- Effectively communicate with others when carrying out tow vehicle operations and liaising with external tow vehicle driver providers
