Located at the Department of Oral Restorative Sciences, Westmead Centre for Oral Health, part of Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) — one of Australia's largest and most diverse health services. Westmead Centre for Oral Health provides general and specialist dental services to communities across NSW and is a key teaching facility for the University of Sydney.

What you'll be doing
In this hands-on role, you'll assist clinicians to deliver safe, high-quality oral health care while ensuring excellent patient experiences.
* Prepare dental surgeries, equipment, instruments and materials for procedures
* Assist clinicians during treatment, including instrument transfer, moisture control and patient support
* Maintain strict infection prevention and control standards in line with NSW Health policies
* Accurately manage patient records and digital health information systems
* Participate in training, team meetings, health promotion activities and support of trainees
* You may also be rostered across WSLHD oral health clinics or external care settings, including hospitals, schools and residential facilities.

Essential Requirements
Qualifications: Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent/current enrolment in the course.
Selection Criteria
* Recent, adequate experience as a Dental Assistant.
* Demonstrated ability to assist the clinician in a four-handed environment, with a variety of dental procedures including general and specialised care.
* Demonstrated ability to perform effective infection control procedures in all aspects of Dental Assisting.
* Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in dental charting.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
* The ability to work in a large, multidisciplinary team, and be able to liaise effectively with a range of individuals including fellow health care workers and the general public.
* Excellent organisational, time-management and problem- solving skills.
