About the role

We currently have opportunities for Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians wanting to upskill and obtain HVIA certification or HV Electricians/ Industrial Electricians wanting to upskill and obtain Cert III Instrumentation offered on site to join our high performing Maintenance teams across our Yarwun Operations.

- Material Handling and Shift Maintenance team(day and night lifestyle roster)
- Utilities Maintenance or RMA (Residue Management Area) Team (Dayshift 9 day fortnight)
- Whiteside/Redside Maintenance team (Dayshift 9 day fortnight Roster)

Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader

- Maintaining and replacing electrical equipment
- Execution of planned and unplanned breakdown maintenance
- Troubleshooting, calibrating, repair and service of fixed plant instrumentation and electrical assets
- Testing and maintaining HV and power generation systems (Team Dependent)
- Working autonomously, being reliable and positively contributing to the maintenance team, understanding the requirement to maintain assets in a safe and reliable condition
- Being adaptable and adaptable to changing business needs
- Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives which may involve working with many different disciplines within the organisation
- Promoting and identifying HSE opportunities to improve equipment, processes and behaviours
- Execution of defined primary and secondary scopes from SAP (CMMS)

What you'll bring

- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Respect for others and an all-inclusive mindset
- An Australian 'Open' electrical license
- Proven history of fault finding and repairs on various electrical equipment
- HV switching or instrumentation experience preferable

Where you'll be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004. Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.

As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.

Yarwun is a proud member of the Gladstone community, and along with Boyne Smelters Limited and Queensland Alumina Limited, support community investments that improve the liveability of the Gladstone region through the Here for Gladstone community fund.
