The Role
As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Varicon, you'll focus on generating qualified opportunities through outbound prospecting, networking, and event engagement.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, uncovering opportunities, and helping potential customers see the value of innovation in construction technology.
You'll also attend industry events and occasionally travel to meet prospects in person, representing Varicon as the go-to partner for civil contractors.
Responsibilities
* Research and identify key decision-makers within target civil construction companies.
* Execute multi-channel outreach campaigns via email, phone, LinkedIn, and events.
* Qualify leads and schedule discovery meetings for the Account Executive team.
* Collaborate with marketing on campaigns and event follow-ups.
* Attend industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to generate leads.
* Occasionally travel to meet prospects and support in-person demos or introductions.
* Maintain accurate records and pipeline updates in our CRM system.
* Provide feedback to the team on trends and outreach effectiveness.
Requirements
* 1–3+ years in a BDR, SDR, or outbound sales role (SaaS or construction tech preferred).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong curiosity and ability to understand customer pain points.
* Proactive, goal-driven, and resilient mindset.
* Organised and detail-oriented with strong CRM discipline.
* Confident engaging prospects in-person and over the phone.
* Willingness to travel within Australia for events and prospect visits.
* Based in Melbourne and available for a hybrid work model.
