Business Systems Developer (Modernisation)
Gold Coast / Brisbane / Yatala | Full-time
Hands‑on Software Developer (Legacy Modernisation)
We’re a small IT team, looking for a hands‑on developer to modernise our internal business systems. The role focuses on upgrading and refactoring existing applications to make them easier to maintain, integrate, and support.
You’ll work closely with our IT Manager and Operations team to deliver changes safely and in a way the business can run with long‑term. This is not a web-developer role, but there will be significant UI/UX requirements. Located conveniently halfway between Gold Coast and Brisbane, the company is based in the automotive powersport industry.
What you’ll be doing
* Upgrade and modernise internal applications (framework, runtime, and library updates)
* Refactor and selectively rewrite older modules to reduce technical debt
* Make database‑level changes where needed to support application work
* Help put in place a simple, repeatable development workflow for planning, building, reviewing, and releasing changes
* Work with IT Ops on deployment windows, change management, and production releases
What we’re looking for
* 5+ years development experience (flexible if you have strong legacy modernisation experience)
* Proven experience upgrading and refactoring existing systems (not just greenfield builds)
* Comfortable working with relational databases
* Practical mindset - choose tools that fit the problem, avoid over‑engineering
* Clear communication and solid documentation so changes can be handed over cleanly
Nice to have (AI uplift)
* Experience using AI agents or AI‑assisted development tools to speed up refactoring, cut down repetitive work, and improve feedback loops
* Strong review and testing discipline - we care about quality, not “vibe coding”
* Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
* Some accounting and business process knowledge
Benefits
* Family‑oriented company with a stable, low‑stress environment
* You’ll be involved in all new internal system work, not siloed into a narrow role
* Emphasis on doing things properly rather than rushing changes out
* Flexible hours and conditions
