About the role
We are currently looking for Lawyers/Associates (2-5 years PQE)to join our growing and high-performing Public Law - Probity teamled by Partners Simonetta Astolfi and Sunny Leow.
The work involves providing pragmatic, solutions-focussedcommercial advice, governance advice, contract drafting,procurement, grants and probity advice to Commonwealth Governmentagencies (including at senior levels), to work collaboratively withother lawyers and our clients, and generally support the Partnersbuild and maintain a strong team environment. You will have theopportunity to work in a fast paced environment on a variety ofcomplex, sensitive, interesting and nation-building projects.Things are never dull in this team!
About you
Ideally you will have experience advising clients and helpingsolve problems and enjoy working collaboratively and contributingto a team environment. You should bring a sense of openness tolearning new skills, and you will bring a level of common sense,emotional intelligence and pragmatism to your practice of the law.You should be able to understand the ‘big picture’, aswell as having strong attention to detail and sound technical legaldrafting and statutory interpretation skills.
You will also have the following skills and experience:
* 2-5+ years’ experience as a lawyer working withgovernment clients
* Contracting, procurement and/or grant experience
* An understanding of probity, integrity in the publicsector, and governance principles
* General legal experience (whether that’s in disputeresolution, commercial law, administrative law, general publiclaw)
* Strong emotional intelligence and inter-personalskills
* Experience working collaboratively in a teamenvironment
* A keenness to learn
We are open to this being located in Canberra or Melbourne, andwe work flexibly at Maddocks with part of our week in theoffice.
