Responsibilities
- Operating various cranes to company and manufacturer requirements;
- Ensuring the crane is operated within the manufacturer’s limits;
- Maintain crane on a daily basis by inspecting for defects or wear and lubricating as required;
- Operating the crane in a safe and responsible manner at all times;
- Check the condition of the ground (e.g., building site) before setting up the crane;
- Place the correct equipment under the outrigger pads of the crane (normally these are timber blocks, but they can be steel plates depending upon the condition of the site);
- Check that the crane is level on the outriggers before attempting to lift and place a load;
- Be aware of how much material can be safely hoisted in each load according to the crane’s capacity and the weather conditions (e.g., high winds).
Requirements
- Crane Operators Ticket (National or State ticket)
- Minimum of 1 year experience on a maintenance site
- Heavy vehicle licence for mobile cranes and hydraulic cranes; heavy vehicle licence for crawlers preferred but not essential
- Able to perform duties maintaining high standards in both safety and quality.
