The New College Communities at the University of New South Wales are seeking applications for a part-time (3 days a week) Communications Officer to continue to develop engagement with its stakeholders through their various communications, events and activities. This role is a maternity position for 12 months and is integral to enhancing the college's visibility, engaging with our alumni and supporters, growing our brand and effectively communicating our values and initiatives both internally and externally.

New College and New College Postgraduate Village, UNSW, are university residential colleges of almost 600 students, affiliated with the Anglican Diocese of Sydney. Our mission is to "cultivate outstanding university campus communities of academic excellence and pastoral care, shaped by Christian faith and values, where every student can flourish."
Role Description
This role is a maternity position for 12 months. It will have a focus on communications, marketing, events and other activities that assist the Advancement Manager in promoting the Colleges, connecting and engaging the alumni and friends of our college communities, including fundraising activities.
Specific Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Deliver regular communications to alumni and friends by collecting and reporting on New College Community and alumni news, activities, awards and achievements.
2. Help plan, write and manage monthly events.
3. Help write and manage appeals in support of the strategic fundraising programs, which may involve occasional after hours and weekend work.
4. Assist the Advancement Manager by directly contacting and engaging alumni and other supporters at times.
5. Support events like Open Days and expos with marketing and promotion programs and materials.
6. Administrative and other duties as directed.
Reporting Relationships
The Communications Officer reports to the Advancement Manager and is an important part of the Advancement Team.
Key Selection Criteria
1. Tertiary degrees in communication, marketing or other related fields.
2. Experience in a communications and/or marketing role.
3. Excellent oral and written communication.
4. Proactive approach and someone who will take initiative with the role while maintaining the ability to meet critical deadlines.
5. Good interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work in a small team.
7. Current driver's license.
Desirable Selection Criteria
1. Experience in Event Coordination and Management
2. Experience with fundraising appeals.
3. Project management skills.
4. Advancement experience in the educational and/or tertiary educational sector.
