About the Role The Truck Driver (General) (ANZSCO 733111) is a key operational position responsible for transporting bread and bakery products safely and efficiently to retailers, supermarkets, warehouses, and food service customers. The role requires the operation of heavy vehicles to complete scheduled deliveries while ensuring compliance with road transport regulations, food safety standards, loading requirements, and company operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate heavy vehicles and delivery trucks to transport bread and bakery products to customer locations
* Manoeuvre vehicles into position for loading and unloading activities
* Load and unload products using appropriate lifting and handling equipment where required
* Ensure safe handling, secure storage, and proper distribution of goods during transportation to prevent product damage
* Conduct routine vehicle inspections and quality checks to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy
* Verify delivery documentation, delivery schedules, invoices, and transport records
* Ensure compliance with load limitations and safe weight distribution requirements
* Maintain delivery schedules and ensure timely distribution of products to retail and food service customers
* Observe and comply with workplace health and safety requirements, road transport regulations, and food safety standards
* Report vehicle maintenance issues, delivery discrepancies, incidents, or operational concerns to management
* Maintain cleanliness and presentation of delivery vehicles in accordance with food transport requirements
* Coordinate with warehouse staff, suppliers, retailers, and operational personnel to support efficient distribution activities
Requirements
* Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
* AQF Certificate II or III relevant to transport and logistics operations (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) or at least 1 year of relevant truck driving experience may substitute for formal qualifications
* Valid Australian Heavy Vehicle Driver's Licence (e.g., HR, HC or MC class, depending on vehicle requirements) or an equivalent overseas licence that can be transferred
* Good driving history and understanding of road transport regulations
* Experience in food distribution, logistics, or delivery operations is advantageous
* Ability to safely load, transport, and unload goods
* Strong time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work independently and follow delivery schedules efficiently
* Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work in a fast-paced logistics and distribution environment
