The Role
The Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator will work with members of the Haematology Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and will be responsible for the coordination of care for patients requiring Allogeneic Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (Allo-HSCT), including long-term follow-up and management of late effects across the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).
Duties
* Provide client-centred consultancy and assessment of patients’ physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs throughout the patient journey for complex haematological malignancies progressing to allogeneic HSCT, within the facility and across HNELHD.
* Assess and monitor patient outcomes, coordinate referrals across specialties within HNELHD and other LHDs as needed.
* Offer consultancy services across specialties, including general practice and community services, on the healthcare needs of patients pre- and post-Allo-HSCT and administer specialty vaccinations within HNELHD.
* Provide expert clinical leadership and consultancy for treatment regimens, tissue typing, and donor selection within the facility, HNELHD, and at the state level.
* Lead expert clinical guidance on complex vaccination protocols for haematological patients within the facility and community services.
* Mentor haematology nurses within the facility, HNELHD, and statewide.
About You
* Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with APRHA, with extensive experience and knowledge of Haematology and Allo-HSCT in a clinical environment and/or across various services.
* Minimum five years post-graduate nursing experience with at least three years in Oncology/Haematology and a postgraduate qualification (preferably Masters level) related to Oncology/Haematology or working towards it.
* Ability to communicate complex clinical concepts to non-clinical audiences and provide authoritative advice on clinical issues within your expertise.
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to develop solutions based on specialist knowledge of Haematology and Allo-HSCT.
* Capacity to evaluate and improve current clinical practices to minimize potential issues.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for documentation, research promotion, and direct patient care.
