Position Profile:
The Team Leader Regulatory Audit will lead and manage a team who undertake a range of audit, assessment, verification, compliance and enforcement activities of specific food businesses for which the Department has responsibility under the Food Act 2008 and its subsidiary legislation. This includes dairy primary production and processing, primary production of bivalve molluscs, meat production and processing (abattoirs, boning rooms, small goods), public hospital food service and food businesses not in a Local Government district (eg. Rottnest Island).
This is a new position that will oversee a risk-based approach to food safety regulation, implement initiatives to improve regulatory processes, provide technical leadership on food safety auditing, recommend and lead compliance and enforcement activities, and coordinate the public enquiry and technical advice service.
As part of the food safety team, the Team Leader Regulatory Audit will manage operational priorities in consultation with the Managing Scientist and collaborate closely with technical and policy staff to support the delivery of regulatory, surveillance and investigation activities that support positive food safety and public health outcomes.
This position will also support the Department’s representation and input to national and state committees and working groups, provide advice and guidanceto enforcement agencies, industry and the public in relation to food safety policy, food legislation and related matters.
