Sydney Financial Markets Operations Contract or Temporary Our client is seeking an Accounts Payable Officer to join their Sydney team on a 12-month parental leave cover contract, with potential for extension as the APAC region continues to expand. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will be an integral part of a dynamic and collaborative team, supporting the company’s operations across Asia. Key responsibilities include: Manage the entire payment process, including preparing and executing EFT payment runs and one-off transactions. Handle daily cash management activities and reporting, ensuring accuracy. Reconcile and code daily bank statements. Address vendor inquiries promptly and proactively update vendors on payment statuses. Oversee cheque payments and international wire transfers (telegraphic transfers). Support legal and professional fee reporting by preparing fee schedules. Assist with audit confirmations and address any ad-hoc audit requests. Coordinate foreign exchange (FX) reporting requirements. Organize funding re-wires from managed loans for payroll and operational expenses. Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and ensure proper filing and record-keeping of invoices. Record payments in the General Ledger and perform bank account reconciliations. Review employee expense claims for compliance, including handling FX conversion calculations. Conduct petty cash reconciliations. Set up and maintain vendor accounts in the General Ledger system. Collaborate with the team on ad-hoc tasks and participate in continuous improvement initiatives What We’re Looking For Proven experience in a full-function Accounts Payable role, including end-to-end processing, payment execution, and reconciliations. Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership. High proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; familiarity with accounting/ERP systems is advantageous. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working with both local and offshore teams. A proactive mindset, with a focus on identifying opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and increase automation.
