Lumos Diagnostics is a medical device company specializing in rapid, point-of-care diagnostic technologies. Our products combine lateral flow assays, reader platforms, cartridges, and software applications used in regulated healthcare environments.
We are seeking a Technical Product Manager to serve as the technical owner of Lumos Diagnostics' reader, cartridge, and software platforms. This role is the senior technical authority responsible for defining platform architecture, guiding development, and delivering commercially viable diagnostic products across multiple active programs.
This is a senior, hands‐on individual contributor role working at the intersection of engineering, product strategy, and regulated medical device development.
About the Role
As the Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for the technical ownership and delivery of Lumos Diagnostics' reader, cartridge, and software application platforms. You will work closely with internal teams, external partners, and client organizations to architect, develop, and deliver high‐performance, regulated diagnostic products.
This role is accountable for the technical roadmap across multiple development programs and provides senior technical leadership across cross‐functional teams, suppliers, and third‐party development partners.
This role does not include direct people management but provides technical leadership and direction across internal teams and external partners.
What You'll Do
* Oversee development and delivery of reader, cartridge, and software platforms
* Define and evolve the technical product strategy and platform roadmap
* Evaluate technical feasibility of requirements and recommend solutions
* Guide engineering decisions across development and production environments
* Ensure technical documentation supports regulatory compliance and product performance
* Lead early‐stage development of new platform capabilities and enhancements
* Oversee execution of platform programs from concept through manufacturing transfer
* Coordinate Product, R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, suppliers, and third‐party partners
* Manage risks, dependencies, and timelines across multiple concurrent programs
* Provide technical leadership to resolve complex platform or field issues
Business, Client & IP Contribution
* Provide technical input for customer and development programs
* Support business development and project planning activities
* Identify and protect intellectual property related to Lumos platforms
* Maintain awareness of competitive technologies and emerging platform capabilities
Required Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline
* 7+ years of experience in technical product development, engineering, or technical product management
* Experience working in regulated environments such as medical devices, diagnostics, or similar
* Demonstrated ownership of end‐to‐end product development from concept through manufacturing readiness
* Proven ability to act as senior technical authority for complex systems
* Experience working with suppliers and third‐party development partners
* Working knowledge of ISO 13485, FDA QSR, or similar regulated environments
* Strong analytical, technical, and problem‐solving skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder‐management abilities
Compensation
* Base salary: $140,000 – $160,000 per year
* Plus applicable statutory benefits
Location
* On‐site role based in Box Hill, Melbourne
* Up to 15% domestic and international travel
