We design architecture that connects — and we’re looking for a like-minded designer to join us.
This is a unique opportunity for an emerging talent in architecture or interiors to step into a mid-level role at our Dulwich studio. With at least 4 years’ experience in residential and boutique commercial projects, you’re ready to grow your project management skills in a studio that values sophisticated design and approachable service.
What we're looking for
1. Tertiary qualification in architecture or a related design discipline
2. Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in architectural or interior design, ideally within a consultancy or design studio environment
3. Strong proficiency in design software in BIM (we use ArchiCAD), SketchUp, and the Adobe Creative Suite
4. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
5. A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating innovative, functional, and visually stunning designs
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
7. Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, compliance requirements, and suppliers
In our studio, the way we work is just as important as what we design. We're intentional about how we come together as a team, and the service we offer our clients.
We strive to always
1. design beautiful spaces; the kind that steal your gaze and make you linger
2. demystify the design process to encourage collaboration with our clients
3. be smart about what can be achieved within our clients' budgets, briefs, and blocks
4. not shy away from challenges or debate because it's the push and pull of design that makes our work better
5. constantly pursue growth to learn, connect and improve
You'll be a great fit if you are
1. An effective communicator; You are always looking at ways to deepen connection, you are generous in sharing your ideas, listen intently, proactively seek, receive and give constructive feedback, and can confidently navigate challenging conversations. You understand that architecture thrives on trust and so your clients and team mates are always fully informed.
2. Meticulous about the details; You study client briefs and documents, you're up-to-date with the professional requirements of your role from planning laws to building codes and the latest design innovations, you file everything in its place, and are across every project milestone. You effectively manage risk and take pride in the fact that you're known as a ‘safe pair of hands’.
3. Professionally savvy; You know how to keep multiple projects on track, can assist clients in making crucial decisions, you consider project deadlines sacrosanct so you don't get caught up in perfectionism and can switch gears without sacrificing quality. You know how things are built because this creates better design, and you understand the benefit of nurturing professional relationships to enhance your skills and expertise.
Conditions we offer
1. Ability to negotiate flexible arrangements, including reducing the role to a 4-day week
2. Additional week's leave (with loading), above the standard 4 weeks
3. Generous end of financial year performance-based bonus, determined on clear criteria
4. Extra leave to support mental health and wellbeing
5. Monthly reward and recognition program
6. $1000 annual professional development benefit to be used at your discretion
7. Weekly team design workshops
8. Hybrid working, except on team connection days on Tuesdays and Thursdays
9. Flexible start time up to 9.30am to support working parents
10. Personal Christmas bonus
11. Salary commensurate to experience
Cultural fit is just as important as your design credentials, so please keep this in mind when writing your application.
By 10am on Monday, May 5, send us:
1. A one-page cover letter addressed to Greg Bond on why you're the right person for this role.
2. A CV with at least two referees (preferably the contact details of at least one former client).
