Our Australian Design Services team is an in-house practice delivering workplace, hospitality, retail, and mixed-use interiors at scale, with direct access to JLL's global network of clients, research, and technology platforms. We are seeking a Mid-Tier Interior Designer who is ready to take ownership of design workstreams and contribute independently to complex projects.The successful candidate will bring 3–5 years' experience, solid Revit capability, and the confidence to manage deliverables across corporate workplaces, hospitality, retail, healthcare, and mixed-use developments – creating spaces that enhance user experience and deliver measurable business value.This is an opportunity to do significant work – at scale, with direct access to JLL's global client relationships, research capability, and technology platforms – while working in an Australian studio where your contribution will be visible and valued.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Development & Project SupportLead assigned design workstreams from concept through construction administration, taking ownership of deliverables and ensuring quality standards and project timelines are metDevelop design concepts that respond to client requirements, site constraints, user needs, and brand identity, and take these through to client-ready presentation stagePrepare design proposals, mood boards, material palettes, and space plans for presentation to clients and project teamsConduct site assessments, measure existing conditions, and document spatial requirements to inform design developmentResearch materials, finishes, furniture systems, and products that align with project requirements and design intentCoordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors to support seamless integration of interior design with other building systemsManage furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) specifications, procurement tracking, and installation coordination for assigned projectsTechnical DocumentationProduce construction documentation including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, sections, and details using Revit and other design softwareEnsure design documentation complies with relevant building codes, accessibility standards (ADA/AS 1428), fire safety regulations, and National Construction Code requirementsPrepare finish schedules, door schedules, furniture schedules, and lighting schedules with accurate specifications and quantitiesCoordinate drawing sets with project team members and consultants to identify and help resolve conflictsParticipate in quality control reviews of documentation packages before issueAssist with responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) during construction under senior designer supervisionAttend site meetings during construction to observe progress and document field conditionsClient & Stakeholder CollaborationPrepare and deliver client presentations independently, owning the visual communication of design concepts from mood boards through to technical documentationParticipate in design workshops and client meetings to understand organizational culture, functional requirements, and aesthetic preferencesBuild professional relationships with clients through responsive communication and quality workManage client expectations on assigned projects regarding scope, schedule, and design solutions, escalating to senior designers where requiredIncorporate client feedback constructively into design developmentPresent design concepts to clients and stakeholders with clarity and confidence, fielding questions and responding to feedback in real timeTeam Collaboration & Professional GrowthCollaborate effectively with team members at all levels, contributing ideas and supporting project successParticipate in design reviews, offering observations and learning from experienced designers' feedbackShare knowledge regarding materials, products, vendors, and design solutions discovered through researchContribute to internal initiatives including design standards development, resource libraries, and process improvementsSupport and guide graduate and junior designers on assigned projects, contributing to a culture of knowledge sharing and design excellenceTake ownership of assigned tasks while knowing when to ask questions and seek clarificationMaintain organized project files, material samples, and documentation to support team efficiencyRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field from an accredited institution3-5 years of professional experience in interior design practiceWorking knowledge of design phases from concept development through construction documentationTechnical SkillsProficiency in Revit for 3D modeling and construction documentation (required)Working capability with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) for presentation materials and graphicsExperience with 3D visualization software (SketchUp, Lumion, Enscape, or similar)Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reports, schedules, and presentationsFamiliarity with specification resources and project documentation platformsBasic understanding of lighting design principles and coordination requirementsAwareness of sustainable design principles and rating systems (Green Star, WELL, LEED)Experience with AI-powered design and visualization tools for concept development, rendering enhancement, design iteration, and documentation efficiencyProficiency with generative AI platforms for design exploration, content creation, specification research, and project documentation supportDesign & Professional CompetenciesSolid understanding of space planning principles including ergonomics, circulation, zoning, and spatial efficiencyStrong foundation in design fundamentals: colour theory, proportion, scale, texture, pattern, and compositionGrowing knowledge of materials and finishes including performance characteristics, applications, and sourcingFamiliarity with furniture systems and workplace design strategiesWorking knowledge of building codes and regulations including accessibility compliance and fire safety requirementsAbility to manage assigned tasks effectively while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlinesDeveloping problem-solving capabilities to address design challenges and technical constraintsGood organizational skills for managing project files, material samples, product specifications, and correspondenceCommunication & Interpersonal SkillsStrong verbal communication skills for team collaboration and client interactionSolid visual communication abilities through sketching (hand & digital), renderings, and presentation materialsDeveloping client interaction skills with ability to listen, understand needs, and communicate design solutionsProven
