Lead Coffee Roaster Opportunity
We're seeking a skilled and experienced coffee roaster to take the lead in our full-time, permanent position.
As Lead Coffee Roaster, you will be instrumental in driving the quality of our roasted coffee forward and leading the team that supports it.
The ideal candidate will have three years of experience in a similar role, covering sourcing, roasting, and maintenance.
* Sourcing High-Quality Green Coffee Beans: Identify and source top-quality green coffee beans from around the world.
* Contributing to Green Coffee Buying Decisions: Make informed contributions to our green coffee buying decisions, ensuring we meet the highest standards.
* Roasting to Excellence: Roast coffee to ever-increasing levels of quality and consistency, pushing the boundaries of flavor and aroma.
* Overseeing Production Days: Ensure timely, accurate, and quality-driven results on production days, setting the standard for our team.
* Tracking Roast Goal Success Rates: Establish and track roast goal success rates, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing our processes.
You'll also be responsible for:
* Quality Control: Conduct cupping and espresso quality control sessions, ensuring every cup meets our high standards.
* Maintenance: Perform weekly roaster preventative maintenance and deep cleaning, keeping our equipment in top condition.
* Leadership: Create a positive work environment and actively lead, train, and supervise other roastery staff.
Additionally, you'll contribute to:
* Identifying Wholesale Opportunities: Identify and connect with potential wholesale sales opportunities, expanding our reach and customer base.
* Providing Customer Support: Deliver exceptional customer support, building strong relationships with our clients.
* Packing and Shipping Orders: Pick, pack, and ship orders efficiently and accurately, meeting our customers' needs.
To succeed in this role, you'll need excellent time-management, leadership, and communication skills, as well as a bias-towards-action approach.
Requirements
* Three years of experience in a similar role
* Extensive experience with Probat shop roasters or similar roasting formats
* Active interest in modern coffee roasting
* Excellent time-management, leadership, and communication skills
* Bias-towards-action approach
* Full driver's license with no restrictions or demerits
* Competency with Google Suite
