The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Program Engagement Officer to join the Northern District Communication and Stakeholder Management team, supporting the delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring effective communication, community engagement and stakeholder liaison across a diverse portfolio of transport and road infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with program managers and project teams to deliver clear, consistent and high-quality communication that supports successful project outcomes and maintains strong community relationships.
Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:
* Research and analyse information to prepare high-quality written content, including briefing notes and correspondence for external stakeholders and the community
* Develop and implement community engagement plans for QTRIP projects, including key messages, targeted engagement approaches and communication strategies
* Prepare a wide range of communication materials such as media responses, media releases, ministerial briefings, newsletters, flyers and display materials
* Respond to media enquiries and prepare draft media releases in a timely and professional manner
* Build and maintain effective relationships with key external stakeholders, community representatives and internal teams
* Ensure confidentiality and integrity of information in line with departmental standards and records management requirements
About You To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to suit diverse stakeholders
* Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining collaborative stakeholder relationships
* Sound knowledge of community engagement best practice and public consultation processes
* Experience preparing government or executive correspondence, including ministerial briefs and formal responses
* An understanding of issues and reputation management within a government or public sector environment
* A strong commitment to integrity, confidentiality, legislation and policy compliance
* The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement
