About the opportunity
We are seeking enthusiastic Fauna Spotter Catchers to join our team. Biodiversity Australia are experiencing an exciting period of growth; both locally in SEQ and farther afield. The suitable candidate will be based in SEQ where the majority of our work is located, however there may be occasional FIFO/DIDO work.
In this role you will:
- Conduct field work involving fauna spotting, wildlife handling, restraint, and safe relocation
- Collect and record field data through GPS mapping, photography, and environmental observations
- Perform habitat assessments, monitor breeding sites, and develop effective wildlife management strategies
- Draft environmental reports and assist with project documentation
- Liaise with clients, team members, and stakeholders to uphold high safety, ethical, and environmental standards
There are also opportunities to upskill and work across other areas of the business, including Vegetation Management, Pest Management, and Aviation Wildlife Management for those with relevant experience or interest.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have experience on sites with a high safety standard and encompass a great safety culture. In addition, you will have:
- Demonstrated on-ground experience in a similar role within the building, mining and resource industries, or linear infrastructure on major projects in the planning or implementation stage is preferred
- A relevant qualification in wildlife management, conservation, land management, or a related field is highly regarded
- A solid background in identifying native flora and fauna and conducting field-based data collection
- Experience working on sites with high safety standards; possession of a White Card is essential, with Working at Heights/EWP qualifications considered an advantage
- Unrestricted Car Licence and access to own reliable transport
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and thrive in a dynamic environment
