Job Description:
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Wayside & On-Board Service Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is a part-time casual role based in Perth, Australia.
About the Position:
We are currently seeking a dependable engineer to join our capable System Support team. The engineer will be responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Team Lead, assisting other engineers with projects, providing Obsolescence Report and support, assisting in client reporting and will attend site, as and when required. You should be able to follow instructions, but also take initiative and come up with original ideas
Key tasks and responsibilities:
* Be available to work on an ad-hoc basis, with flexible hours and varied tasks.
* Support the help desk activities for remote and centralized Maintenance activities
* Proactive Monitoring: Continuously monitoring signalling system component lifecycles and supply chain data to identify potential obsolescence issues.
* Working closely with engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure a coordinated approach to obsolescence management.
* Investigating and resolving complex obsolescence issues, ensuring minimal disruption to production and ongoing operations
* Seeking out and implementing innovative solutions to extend the lifespan of our products and minimize the impact of obsolescence.
* Maintain obsolescence tracking tools and generate regular reports
* Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to stay ahead of lifecycle changes
* Assisting team leader with internal and external reporting requirements
* Participation in team meetings, attending workshops, and other training initiatives
* Ensure all activities undertaken comply with applicable HSE laws and HSE policies and procedures including the reporting of all safety incidents using Company procedures
Skills and experience:
* 5+ years of experience in Railway Signalling System
* Bachelor's/master's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Science, Software System or relevant engineering discipline
* Product Expertise: Knowledge on critical signalling wayside, onboard and train control systems/equipment's.
* Familiarity with BOM management tools and obsolescence databases
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* A good communicator with effective stakeholder management & conflict resolution skills
* Superb time management and professionalism.
