We're seeking a deadly Senior Project Officer to lead and support initiatives that build cultural capability across schools, with a strong focus on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.

What you will do:
Partner with school leaders, educators, and community stakeholders to co-design and implement cultural capability training for schools.
Provide expert advice, resources, and professional development to support culturally safe practices within schools.
Facilitate cultural capability sessions to a wide audience across the North Queensland region.
Lead projects that promote reconciliation, engage First Nations students and maintain respectful relationships in education.
Monitor and evaluate the impact of initiatives, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and community expectations.
Support the introduction of First Nations perspectives across the curriculum.
Engage with First Nations students to develop their leadership skills.
Experience working in the public service is desirable but not essential.
Traveling across the region is required in the role.
(C class license is essential)
What you will bring:
Lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person working with Non-Indigenous stakeholders.
Strong understanding of First Nations cultures, community protocols, and educational contexts.
Experience in walking in two worlds.
Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, or school/community partnerships.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire non-Indigenous colleagues in cultural capability.
A lifelong learner who is committed to equity, inclusion, and continuous improvement in education.
A commitment to equity, inclusion, and empowering First Nations students and families to achieve educational outcomes.
