About the Role

Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely, high-quality legal advice across a range of matters including property, commercial, administrative, planning, environmental, and civil law.
* Manage and advocate in litigation matters across multiple jurisdictions, including the Land and Environment Court, Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and NCAT.
* Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal governance requirements, including WHS, the Local Government Act, and ICAC obligations.
* Conduct legal research, prepare legal documents and briefs, and manage legal precedents and records using Council's systems.
* Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal instruments to safeguard Council's interests.
Requirements
* Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD), with at least 3 years' post-admission experience and a current NSW practising certificate (restricted or unrestricted).
* Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical, ethical legal advice.
* Demonstrated advocacy and litigation experience, including court appearances (preferably in the Land and Environment Court and Local Court).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
