**About Opera Australia**
**Opera Australia's (OA) Vision** is to become an opera company for a 21st century Australia with a mission to bring an Australian stamp to telling great stories through music and song. Based in Sydney at the Opera Centre in Surry Hills, and with additional offices and rehearsal rooms in Melbourne, Opera Australia presents over 600 performances to over half a million people annually, including operas, musicals, outdoor events and concerts. We are resident partners at the Sydney Opera House and the Arts Centre Melbourne, and stage performances all over regional Australia. We regularly collaborate with other Australian opera companies and arts organisations, as well as international partners, and are committed to developing new generations of Australian talent, and making opera that is relevant and accessible to 21st century audiences.
**About you**
This role is for a period of 2 years. We see the role as a stepping stone for someone who is looking for a long-term role in the arts, and wants to build a solid understanding of how a large and busy performing arts company operates. Built into the role is time to make a broader organisational contribution across the company through gaining knowledge and experience with other departments and teams. The successful applicant will be encouraged to join the broader OA community, spending half a day per week contributing to the work of another department - a great way to grow knowledge and skills across areas of personal and professional interest.
**About the role**
- You will act as the CEO's primary point of contact, managing communication with key team members across OA and externally
- Coordinate the CEO's time, including organisation of meetings, oversight of CEO diary, and management of CEO travel
- Management and drafting of correspondence to support the CEO
- Management of meetings hosted by or attended by CEO including agenda planning, minutes and actions, and where necessary helping host VIP visitors to the Opera Centre
- Management of CEO guest lists, invitations and ticket allocations, and where necessary, support the planning and delivery of special guest events
- Support CEO internal communications including management of CEO-hosted town halls and coordinating regular CEO updates
- Liaison with external stakeholders including Board, arts industry partners, donors, sponsors and government
- Researching of projects, ideas and people, as may support the CEO
**What can you bring to the role**
- Exceptional organisational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High adaptability to changing circumstances in a busy environment - proactive and versatile
- Ability to problem-solve and find solutions
- Attention to detail including meticulous approach to record-keeping and filing
- Ability multitask, and to see tasks and projects through to completion
- High levels of discretion and the ability to work autonomously when necessary
- Ability to work with people across the company as well as a variety of external stakeholders
- Ability to quickly develop proficiency across a range of software programmes
- Experience in project and/or event management
- Experience in copywriting and written communications
- Advanced MS office skills, and database administration experience
- Passion for the arts / performing arts
