Role overview
We are working with a Federal Government client within the public sector seeking a Finance Business Partner at APS6 level. This role sits within a finance and procurement function and acts as a key link between business areas and the Chief Financial Officer, delivering financial advice, reporting, and analysis with a focus on budget management.
Key responsibilities
* Act as the primary link between the CFO and business areas
* Provide financial advice, analysis, and support for decision making
* Prepare monthly financial reports, including variance analysis and forecasting
* Support business planning, projects, and investment decisions through financial analysis
* Assist with month end processes such as accruals and prepayments
* Monitor and review forecasts with stakeholders
* Identify and communicate financial risks and impacts
* Support budget development, expenditure forecasting, and long term planning
* Ensure compliance with financial management and reporting requirements
* Build financial capability across the organisation
Required experience and skills
* Qualifications in accounting, finance, or business, or relevant public sector financial management experience
* Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis within a Commonwealth framework
* Strong analytical capability and ability to influence stakeholders
* Clear written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
