Awarded lighting design company that offers commercial luminaries and customize design.
Our design team and production team handle 50-80 projects per year, over 100 standard/custom products per year.
The opportunity:
As a product designer, you will contribute to the concept generation and provide product designs that meet the intended purpose and specification. The outcome of the design process will be the timely introduction of reliable, specification compliant product to the market.
Responsibilities:
* Provide design solution for custom projects, prepare shop drawing for client review.
* Detailed product design from concept to production.
* Provide documentation in the form of drawings and bills of materials to ensure that designs can be manufactured accordingly.
* Ensure the product meets expectations from a cost, timing, quality, compliance requirements and design specification
* Develop products for easy manufacture and meets cost targets.
* Responsible for new products to comply with specifications, quality, and statutory approval requirements
Job Duties:
* Assist / guide the initial production runs of the new product.
* Follow the documented company quality management system. Provide support as required to sales/marketing/production teams.
* Participate in the setting of standards, specification, and test procedures as well as the preparation of technical materials required to support the creation of product specifications and installation instructions.
* Prepare prototypes and document all test results.
* Keep up to date with latest technologies Maintenance of existing product designs
* Maintain CAD files system and production documentation
Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Industrial Design or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* 2 years' experience in product design, development, and drafting experience
Skills:
* Ability to work in 3D design software: Solidworks with 3D rendering knowledge
* Ability to work in 2D CAD software: NanoCAD/Draftsight/AutoCAD
* Ability to work in Adobe Creative suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign
* Basic design and manufacturing process knowledge for sheet metal and extrusion
* Basic electrical and lighting technology knowledge
* Basic knowledge for IP rating, thermal management
* Experience in developing LED Lighting Products Drafting will be a bonus
* Experience in Lighting Calculation will be a bonus
* Proven communication skills -verbal and written
* Positive individual who is willing to learn with a can-do attitude
* Intermediate Microsoft office skills
