What You’ll Be Doing
- Contributing to the analysis of the investment outlook that underpins the Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA) positioning of the Fund’s investment options. This includes researching and assessing the outlook for asset classes such as Australian Equities, International Equities, Diversified Bonds and Cash. Some of the tasks for the DAA aspect of this role include:
- Contributing to the DAA Reviews that are considered by the Internal Investment Committee (IIC) and the Investment Committee (IC) on a regular basis.
- Helping to design alternative scenarios for the investment outlook.
- Further developing and maintaining DAA chart packs.
- Conduct DAA-related investment research to enhance portfolio performance.
- Undertaking investment-related tasks as directed by executives and senior team members. These may include portfolio analysis such as liquidity testing, transaction analysis, risk analysis, stress testing, attribution analysis, macroeconomic modelling, and asset allocation modelling.
- Drafting and reviewing sections of IIC and IC papers.
- Presenting aspects of investment papers at IIC meetings in an informative and persuasive manner.
- Contributing to Responsible Investment activities, such as proxy voting, carbon reporting, and exclusions reporting.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance team efficiency.
- Performing occasional operational tasks as required.
What We’re Looking For
- A demonstrable interest in investments is vital. Two or more years of direct experience in the superannuation and/or investment management industries is preferred but not essential.
- Well-developed quantitative skills and a strong ability in using quantitative analysis to support decision making. Solid technical skills in Excel are essential; Power BI proficiency is advantageous.
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, high-quality work.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, or actuarial studies are preferred. Degrees in numerically focused or research-focussed disciplines such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics are also highly regarded (for example, physics, chemistry and biology).
