Based in Sydney - The Senior Manager, Claims Management plays a critical role in overseeing all non-insurance claims across Optus, ensuring a strategic, compliant, and commercially sound approach to claims resolution. This role is responsible for managing high-value, complex, and sensitive claims, engaging with legal teams, internal stakeholders, and external parties to secure optimal outcomes while mitigating financial, operational, and reputational risks.



With a focus on governance and continuous improvement, the Senior Manager, Claims Management maintains a robust claims framework, ensuring alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. You will provide expert insights into claims trends, working closely with senior leadership to refine risk mitigation strategies and support broader insurance renewal efforts.



Your day in the life of a Senior Manager, Claims Management at Optus

* Lead the end-to-end management of high-value, complex, and sensitive claims, engaging with external lawyers, loss assessors, and internal stakeholders from initial referral to resolution.
* Strategically assess claims trends and insights, providing recommendations to senior leadership on risk mitigation and process improvements.
* Develop and refine claims handling policies and procedures, ensuring best practices are consistently applied across the organisation.
* Lead the documentation and evidence management process, maintaining a clear chain of custody for all claims-related materials.
* Represent Optus in pre-hearing meetings, mediation, and negotiations, ensuring optimal outcomes for disputed claims.
* Oversee the issuance and management of Certificates of Currency, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless continuity across policy renewals.
* Drive financial oversight of claims, including reconciling General Ledger accounts, approving settlements, and managing purchase orders for external legal fees.
* Lead the production of strategic claims reports, ensuring senior stakeholders have visibility over key metrics, financial exposure, and emerging risks.



Your skills to pay the bills

* An appropriate insurance or business qualification.
* Extensive years’ of experience working with a major broker, insurer, or in the claims management field.
* Familiarity with the underwriting or claims management process.
* Strong report writing and presentation skills for both internal and external use.
* Strong team player with a positive attitude.
* Highly driven, autonomous, and resilient.
* Enjoy working in a dynamic and multi-cultural team and business environment.
