About the Role
The Birth Family Advocacy Support Service (BFASS) provides critical information and advocacy support to families who have encountered the justice system due to child protection issues. Our team supports birth families from diverse backgrounds, where there are children and young people at risk of or who have entered the care system.
This role involves direct client support, stakeholder engagement, volunteer management, strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
Key responsibilities include providing professional supervision and direction to staff engaged in casework service delivery, communicating effectively with stakeholders of varying cultural backgrounds, and applying trauma-informed care principles.
Requirements
* Sound technical knowledge and expertise in casework service delivery.
* Interpersonal skills required for effective verbal and written communication.
* Highly developed advocacy and problem-solving skills, including assertive communication with stakeholders.
* A high level of technical knowledge and expertise of child protection law and practice.
* Capacity to work within a strengths-based approach.
* Sound analytical skills and demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate, and solve problems.
* Previous experience managing employees and volunteers.
Mandatory Requirements
* A Working with Vulnerable People Check.
* A Current Australian Driver's Licence.
