About the Role
The ECT Coordinator is a clinical role responsible for the safe, efficient, and person‐centred coordination of Electroconvulsive Therapy services within a mental health inpatient setting. The role ensures compliance with NSW Health's ECT standards, facilitates multidisciplinary collaboration, and supports patients throughout the ECT treatment journey—from pre‐assessment to post‐procedure recovery. Closing Date: 23/06/2026.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and manage ECT treatment schedules across inpatient and day surgery settings.
* Ensure all pre‐treatment assessments, documentation, and consents are completed.
* Liaise with psychiatry, anaesthesia, and recovery teams to ensure smooth procedural flow.
* Monitor and troubleshoot equipment.
* Provide trauma‐informed, recovery‐oriented care before, during, and after ECT.
* Educate patients and carers about ECT, including risks, benefits, and recovery expectations.
* Address patient concerns and support emotional wellbeing throughout the treatment process.
* Ensure compliance with NSW Health's ECT Minimum Standards of Practice.
* Maintain accurate documentation and audit records.
* Act as the central point of contact for ECT‐related communication across teams.
Selection Criteria
* Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse.
* Postgraduate qualifications in mental health.
* Minimum 3 years mental health experience.
* Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing and/or ECT coordination.
* Familiarity with NSW Health's ECT Policy Directive and local procedures.
* Understanding of legal and ethical considerations, including consent and Mental Health Act provisions.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience in clinical leadership, supervision, and quality improvement.
